Swan plants are the favourite food plant of monarch butterfly caterpillars, making them a wonderful addition to a bee and butterfly friendly garden. Grow your own little patch and you may soon find it covered in hungry caterpillars!
All seeds have been grown by us on farm this season. Swan plants are easy to grow from seed and produce clusters of delicate white flowers, followed by their distinctive long swan-like seed pods.
Farmgate Flowers tip: Plant plenty! Monarch caterpillars can munch their way through swan plants surprisingly quickly, so having a good supply growing will keep your butterfly garden going.
Seeds are naturally variable and germination and growth will depend on growing conditions.
